Panera is known for itssprawling, welcoming atmospherewith fireplaces and cozy nooks combined with quick service.
However, cheesy, piping hot subs are one thing we’d never go searching for at Panera.
Here’s my ranking.

What a brilliant idea to make this popular pick into a hot sandwich!
Tasters said that this sandwich was “lacking bulk” and “needed more.”
That was immediately apparent when the filling played peek-a-boo at first glance.

We could see a little bit of sauce but this sandwich did not look like the ads.
No gooey white cheesy dripped out with slices of pepperoni draped over the side smothered in red sauce.
What was mostly visible was the baguette.

The taste:Good, but not great.
Everyone agreed it needed more of everything.
It did not fulfill its cheesy promise.

What little pepperoni there was, tasted good, it just didn’t stand up to all the bread.
The cheese, unfortunately, would be its downfall.
The taste:For Buffalo wing fans, blue cheese is a must.

Every taster wanted more sauce.
Blue cheese, also, would have added a creaminess that the sandwich was lacking.
This sandwich had a pleasing appearance and colorful ingredients.
The taste:In a word: delicious.
The classic Caprese combo of fresh mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil is perfectly complemented by peppery arugula.
But, again, this sandwich is just too big and calorie-leaden for one person.
For the size and the price, these sandwiches all needed more filling.
They also should look like packed subs to compete withSubway’s Fresh Meltsor any ofJersey Milke’s hot offerings.
